Nunkuwarrin Yunti Apology Day 2023 - Peaceful walk from Victoria Square to Veale Park

Date: 13 February 2023

Time: 9:30am – 2:00pm

Location: Veale Park, South Terrace, 5000

Contact: www.nunku.org.au

It’s hard to believe that it has been 15 years since the Honourable Dr. Kevin Rudd AC, 26th Prime Minister, delivered the National Apology to the Stolen Generations. Each year we acknowledge this special occasion by hosting an Apology Day organised by Nunkuwarrin Yunti with assistance from Reconciliation SA, Aboriginal Sobriety Group (ASG), Aboriginal Family Support Services (AFSS), Aboriginal Drug & Alcohol Council (ADAC), Baptist Care SA, Life Without Barriers, Relationship Australia, Centacare, Uniting Communities, Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement (ALRM) and proudly supported by the City of Adelaide Council and The Healing Foundation.

Nunkuwarrin Yunti’s community event for Apology Day will commence with a peaceful walk from Tarntanyangga (Victoria Square) at 9:30am with the main event at Veale Park featuring a Smoking Ceremony, Welcome to Country, Entertainment with Nathan May and the Tjarutja Dance Company, BBQ, Ngangkari healing, hairdressers, massages, face painting, a message from the Honourable Dr. Kevin Rudd AC, and the comedy stylings of our host and Master of Ceremonies, Kevin Kropinyeri.

Two drinking fountains supplied by SA Water will keep you hydrated on the day so don’t forget to bring your own water bottle to refill at the water station.

This is a free event for the community, and we hope to see you there.
