The role of the Youth Reference Group is to act as an advisory body to the Board and Executive Team of The Healing Foundation. The Youth Reference Group is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth aged 18-35 and works closely with The Stolen Generations Reference Group to represent experiences of trauma and intergenerational trauma as well as resilience, survival and intergenerational healing.
Objectives and outcomes for the Youth Reference Group will be determined in line with The Healing Foundation’s Strategic Plan. These activities may include but are not limited to:
- Act as advocates for The Healing Foundation.
- Advise and assist The Healing Foundation in the engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in the healing agenda.
- Engage with the work of The Healing Foundation and the national conversation about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healing.
- Provide advice on the development and implementation of key initiatives under The Healing Foundation’s strategic priorities.
- Contribute to the overall strategic vision of The Healing Foundation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contribute to creating a strong and collective voice to identify and highlight priorities for a healing agenda, with our range of stakeholders.
- Engage with the work of The Healing Foundation and, in particular, the national conversation about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healing.
- Act as youth ambassadors for The Healing Foundation.
