Channel Island Leprosarium 

LOCATION: Channel Island, Northern Territory

DESCRIPTION: Established by the Commonwealth Government, this facility replaced the Mud Island Lazaret. It housed hundreds if not thousands of Indigenous people with leprosy who had been forcibly removed from their homes throughout the Northern Territory, including children. It was also known as the Darwin Lazaret, the Darwin Leper Station and Berrimah Leper Station.
