St Vincent de Paul Orphanage

(1868 – 1872) Franklin Street, Adelaide.
(1872 – 1875) Former premises of the St Joseph’s Refuge, Mitcham
(1875 – 1888) Knightsbridge House, Burnside.
(1888 – 1975) 181 Goodwood Road, on the corner of Mitchell Street, Millswood

DESCRIPTION: First established in Gilberton, this orphanage was set up by the Catholic Church. It changed locations many times between 1866 and 1975, to Adelaide, Burnside, Mitcham and Millswood. It was managed, at different times, by the Orphanage Board, The Sisters of St Joseph and the Sisters of Mercy. It was also known as Goodwood Orphanage.
