Norseman Mission

LOCATION:

(1935) established as a dormitory on the Native Reserve 2.4 kilometres from Norseman.

(1945) Mission was granted 8,000ha of land, with 40ha  designated as a Native Reserve and the remainder as a pastoral lease, 16km from town on the Coolgardie Road, Norseman.

(1978) A cottage for children from Norseman Mission was situated at Lot 834 Talbot Street, Norseman.

DESCRIPTION: Established by the Churches of Christ, this children’s mission provided accommodation, education and employment training for children aged 2 to 15. From 1942 it was managed by the Churches of Christ Federal Aborigines Mission Board.
