Living Stolen Generations survivors who were under the New South Wales Aborigines Protection or Welfare Board up until 2 June 1969 (the date the Aborigines Protection Act 1909 was repealed) can apply for reparation payments of $75,000.00. This payment is in recognition of the trauma of being forcibly removed only and not compensation for personal damages suffered as result of any abuse or neglect. Recipients can also request a personal apology from a representative of the NSW Government.
Stolen Generation survivors successful in their application for reparation payments, are automatically eligible for the Funeral Assistance payment (one payment of $7,000). This payment can be received at the same time as the reparations payment.
Stolen Generations survivors still qualify for this scheme if they have received payment from the Stolen Generations Group Action or the National Redress Scheme.
New South Wales Government Stolen Generations Reparations Scheme and Funeral Assistance Fund is due to close the application period on 30 June 2023.
