Background

Acknowledgement of Country

The Healing Foundation acknowledges Country, Custodians and Community of the lands on which we live and work. We also pay our respects to Elders and to Stolen Generations survivors, of the Dreaming and of the here and now. We recognise the ongoing nature of trauma experiences for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and commit each day to survivor-led intergenerational healing.

Warning: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this website may contain images, voices and names of people who have passed away.

Sector Support

To support collective healing and strengthen community connections for Stolen Generations survivors, descendants and communities, The Healing Foundation provides a range of funding and support.

Supporting survivors through Collective Healing Grants

The Healing Foundation currently provides targeted grants for Stolen Generations organisations and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations that are supporting survivor-led activities and events.

We work closely with Stolen Generations organisations to ensure the grants are flexible, useful and address the unique healing needs and aspirations of Stolen Generations survivors, their descendants and communities.

We are currently evaluating the Collective Healing Grants, with the support of Think Impact. Updates will be available on this website and through our newsletter.

What does grant funding support?

Over the past decade, The Healing Foundation’s targeted grant funding has supported more than 200 projects or events that respond to the needs of Stolen Generations survivors.

In 2025, grant funding focused on Collective Healing and Commemorative Activities projects, including:

  • Supporting thousands of survivors, descendants and their families to attend events that recognise the anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generation
  • Supporting collective healing through a range of healing camps, healing gatherings, and (re)connection to Country and culture through art, music, song and dance, language, and ceremony
  • Supporting survivors to document their stories and transfer their knowledge and storytelling through art, poetry, song, writing, and drama.

Can we apply for funding or support?

The Healing Foundation provides funding to organisations and initiatives that are:

  • Led by Stolen Generations survivors and emphasise self-determination by ensuring that survivors lead their own healing solutions
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled
  • Not-for-profit.

Guidelines with specific eligibility may be issued throughout the year.

Expressions of interest for future rounds will open in late 2025.

If you would like to register your interest in applying for funding or support, please contact The Healing Foundation team.
