Acknowledgement of Country

The Healing Foundation acknowledges Country, Custodians and Community of the lands on which we live and work. We also pay our respects to Elders and to Stolen Generations survivors, of the Dreaming and of the here and now. We recognise the ongoing nature of trauma experiences for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and commit each day to survivor-led intergenerational healing.

The Healing Foundation has opened the 2025-26 Stolen Generations Grants for Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs). These grants aim to empower ACCOs to help address the unique healing needs and aspirations of the Stolen Generations survivors they serve. The grants can support communities to come together through collective healing and commemorative activities.

Eligible organisations can apply for grants of up to $5,000 - $50,000 (GST exclusive), designed to support a range of impactful activities, including:

  • Healing Activities: Organising healing camps and trauma-informed programs that foster emotional and cultural restoration.
  • Redress Support: Activities that contribute to the redress process for affected individuals and families.
  • Community Memorials: Creating spaces for remembrance and reflection on the impact of past policies.
  • Story Documentaries: Capturing the personal stories of survivors, either individually or as groups, ensuring their voices are heard.
  • Commemorative Events: Coordinating activities to honour significant occasions such as the anniversary of the National Apology to Aboriginal Australians and National Sorry Day.

"The Healing Foundation is committed to empowering and supporting Stolen Generations survivors and Community to heal from the ongoing trauma of removal,” stated Shannan Dodson (Yawuru), CEO, The Healing Foundation.

“We’re pleased to announce grants funding is available for Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to support their work in leading healing initiatives for survivors and descendants of the Stolen Generations.”

“We strongly encourage a wide range of ACCOs to submit applications for the 2025-26 Stolen Generations Grants," she said.
