Background

Acknowledgement of Country

The Healing Foundation acknowledges Country, Custodians and Community of the lands on which we live and work. We also pay our respects to Elders and to Stolen Generations survivors, of the Dreaming and of the here and now. We recognise the ongoing nature of trauma experiences for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and commit each day to survivor-led intergenerational healing.

Warning: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this website may contain images, voices and names of people who have passed away.

Reference Groups

The Healing Foundation is committed to ensuring that our work effectively addresses the unique healing needs of Stolen Generations survivors, their descendants and communities.

To achieve this, we collaborate with two essential Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander advisory bodies: the Stolen Generations Reference Group and the Youth Reference Group.

Together, both reference groups provide valuable leadership and direction for The Healing Foundation, guiding our commitment to healing and reconciliation for Stolen Generations survivors and their families.

Stolen Generations Reference Group

The Stolen Generations Reference Group (SGRG) serves as a vital compass for our initiatives aimed at supporting survivors.

It is dedicated to ensuring that our work deeply connects with and supports the unique and profound healing journeys of survivors, their descendants, and the broader community.

Youth Reference Group

The Youth Reference Group (YRG) consists of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members aged 18-35 who are descendants of Stolen Generations survivors.

It plays a crucial role in advising The Healing Foundation on the impacts of trauma and intergenerational trauma on younger mob, as well as the themes of resilience, survival, and healing that resonate within their communities.

By working closely with the Stolen Generations Reference Group, it helps shape our approach to intergenerational healing and ensures our work is both relevant and impactful.
