Marlee’s Mob

Intergenerational Trauma Comic

In early 2015 the Healing Foundation released an intergeneration trauma resource called Marlee’s Mob.

Marlee’s Mob is a comic book designed by young people to help other children and young people understand intergenerational trauma and how it might be affecting them.

The story focuses on a teenage boy named Marlee. He is set to be a big footy star, is popular at school, is fit and good looking, and has a girlfriend. But something is stirring inside of Marlee that slowly begins to emerge – an anger that he can’t control. When his life starts to unravel, Marlee’s parents step in and share their family story about survival and staying strong.

The advice and input of our Youth Reference Group members and students from the Murri School in Brisbane was invaluable in the development of the comic.

They helped us to develop the story and characters and ensure the comic was relevant to young people. The Healing Foundation worked with a media company, Inception Strategies, to create the comic.
