Woorabinda Aboriginal Reserve

LOCATION: Woorabinda, central QLD

DESCRIPTION: Opened as a replacement for Taroom, Woorabinda was divided into two sections, with boys and girls dormitories in one and Aboriginal families in the other. The government removed large numbers of Aboriginal people here – at least 575 between 1927 and 1943.
